Job offer at AEDH: Coordinator

Contract: Fixed-term contract of 6 months (Full time) starting on 1st July 2017. Might lead to a permanent contract.

The European Association for the Defence of Human Rights (AEDH) is a European network of more than  30 member organisations and individual members. Founded in 2000, AEDH defends and promotes human rights in the European Union. AEDH is working for a democratic Europe that guarantees freedoms and rights of all without discrimination. It defends not only civic and political rights but also economic, social and cultural rights.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Coordination of the Secretariat of AEDH in Brussels: supervision of the AEDH team and interns;  relations with volunteers
  • Management of European programmes and projects:  preparation of project proposals and answers to operating grants, implementation of annual working programme and projects, reporting)
  • Liaise between the executive board and AEDH office in close cooperation with AEDH president;  facilitate the functioning of AEDH board
  • Manage and develop the AEDH network in close cooperation with AEDH president:  relations with current member organisations, organise and take part in meetings with member organisations and exploratory meetings, organise the annual General Assembly
  • External communication: represent AEDH in other networks, relations with NGOs,  represent AEDH towards European institutions

Qualifications and experience:

  • Master in Political Science, Law, European Studies, International Relations or other relevant studies
  • Professional experience in project management, in the management of European funds for an NGO. An experience of two years is desirable.
  • Very good knowledge of human rights and of the functioning and structures of the European Union.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and French; the knowledge of any additional European language is an asset
  • Any experience in the CSO sector (voluntary experience or as employee) is an asset
